Regents Centre Kirkintilloch 10th November 2012

On the 10th November the group set up the craft goods that have been made in the Regents Centre in Kirkintilloch.

The Craft table will be at the Strathkelvin Talking Newspaper Car boot sale taking place at the Park Centre in Kirkintilloch November 24th.

On the 10 th of October we were visited by our local MSP. We had an enjoyable talk over a wide range of subjects from Independence for Scotland to the continuing issue of A frames on the streets.

Opening Ceremony of Paralympic Games Audio Described

RNIB is delighted that blind and partially sighted TV viewers will be
able to watch the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games on Wednesday
29 August with audio description (AD).

Channel 4 and More4 TV channels will be broadcasting the Opening
Ceremony simultaneously and to receive the AD you will need to watch it
on More4.

To view More4, simply tune in on these channels, or check your TV
listings guide:

. Freeview channel 14
. Sky Channel 138
. Virgin Channel 147
. Freesat channel 124

The estimated start time is 9pm, but do check your TV listings for exact
timings.

The AD commentary, which will be available for all viewers, has been
specifically devised and scripted by two describers, who have a strong
pedigree in theatre AD.

Last day at the Library

NOTE ;

The library is undergoing changes.

For June and July we will be relocating to the Park Centre at 45 Kerr Street.

The First meeting will be June 19th at 10 am. We will be meeting on Tuesdays for June and July.

From August we will be moving to a new location.

A future post will provide location and details for that.

Many thanks to the Staff at the Library for the help over the years.

Penfriend , March 1st 2012

There will be a presentation of the future use of the PenFriend device in the library.

The presentation will be on March 1st at 3pm in the William Patrick Library, Kirkintilloch.

Lucy Begley came to todays meeting and gave an insightful and interesting talk about the products available from Humanware.
In particular the high resolution magnifier with the rotateable camera and the device that very quickly reads printed text placed beneath its camera impressed.

Margaret gave an entertaining and wide ranging talk re the training, support and care of the guide dogs used by visually impaired people.
